The Clermont Soil & Water Conservation District provides technical assistance to help landowners address storm water realted issues. The District also has developed educational programs to inform and educate the public about the importance of good storm water management and Clermont County's Phase II Stormwater Permit measures.
Clermont County has long been known for its drainage issues. Many areas contain flat ground with poorly drained soils where water will pond seasonally or sometimes throughout a good portion of the year. The conversion to urban land also leads to increased amounts of impervious surfaces such as roads, driveways, roofs, and manicured lawns, leading to even more drainage problems. This means more water leaving the area and less water infiltrating into the groundwater. The more water we want to drain from the landscape, the more our creeks and rivers have to accomodate, thus attributing to increased risk of severe flooding and erosion. Here are some things that landowners can do to help control stormwater runoff on their property and in their community.
