There are a wide array of best management practices (NRCS Guide to 32 Conservation Choices) and federal cost share programs available to assist local farmers and landowners. These programs can help preserve farmland, reduce erosion, protect water quality and wetlands, and enhance wildlife habitat. Emergency programs are available at times to help mitigate damages from drought and other natural disasters and enhance preparedness for future disasters. Depending upon the nature of the program, Farm Bill programs are administered by both the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Farm Service Agency (FSA).
