The East Fork Watershed Program began in 2001 as collaborative effort among the Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) in Clermont, Brown, Highland, and Clinton counties. These partners recognized a need to develop a comprehensive, grassroots approach to improve water quality in the East Fork Little Miami River (EFLMR). Initial funding provided by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Watershed Coordinator Grant Program allowed local partners to develop a successful watershed program. Five Watershed Action Plans (WAPs) have been developed for the East Fork Watershed, which is over 500 mi2 in total area (links below). The East Fork Little Miami River is considered an exceptional water resource in Ohio and the EFWC works with its partners to implement recommendations included in the Watershed Action Plans.
The East Fork Watershed Collaborative (EFWC) is an informal watershed group that includes representatives from the SWCDs and other local government agencies, along with representatives from community groups and individual citizens. The EFWC works to implement the recommendations outlined in the watershed plans to restore and protect water quality in our streams and lakes. All EFWC meetings are open to the public and citizen participation in strongly encouraged.
